DO NOT MISS OUT! AMAZING THINGS ARE COMING!

School Breathe's Core Team and Certified Breath Coaches

Aimee Hartley, Founder

Hello, I’m Aimee Hartley, founder of School Breathe CIC. I’m a certified breath coach, yoga teacher, author of Breathe Well, and a mum of two. School Breathe began when my first child started school, and I saw the stress and anxiety affecting both children and teachers. Knowing the transformative power of even a short breathing practice, I created a simple programme for my son’s teacher to share with the class. The results were incredible—children became calmer, more focused, and teachers and staff felt less stressed too

As word spread, the demand for the programme grew quickly. To meet this need, I partnered with trusted breath coaches and wellness experts to create an online programme accessible to more schools. Now, five years on, School Breathe’s programmes and trainings are supporting schools across the UK, Germany, and Australia, with growing interest worldwide. We’re thrilled to have ambassadors in Hawaii, Mexico, America, and Kenya, sharing the life-changing benefits of healthy breathing with children and teachers globally.

My mission is to make breathwork accessible and practical for schools, empowering educators and students alike. Seeing the profound impact it has on wellbeing drives my passion to continue spreading the power of the breathwork.

Melanie Lacy-Fewtrell, Co-Director

Hi, I’m Melanie Lacy-Fewtrell, also known as BreathGal, and I’m a dedicated breathwork practitioner based in Steyning, West Sussex, UK. As co-director of School Breathe, I’m passionate about bringing the transformative power of breathwork to schools. I work with children, teenagers, and adults, tailoring my approach to each person’s unique needs—because, as I often say, “Your breath is like your fingerprint; it’s unique to you.”

In my private practice, I support children and teenagers in overcoming challenges like anxiety, as well as coaching adults on everyday breathing-related issues such as asthma, snoring, sleep apnoea, and stress.

During my time as a teaching support assistant at Patcham Junior School, I noticed the profound potential of breathing techniques for children. Today, I am proud to be part of the leadership and fundraising team at School Breathe, helping to integrate breathwork into educational settings.

I have trained extensively in breathwork, earning certifications from Inspirational Breathing, The Buteyko Method, Oxygen Advantage, YogaBody Teachers College, and The Shala, London. I am also a member of the International Breathwork Foundation, am fully insured and trained in first aid and safeguarding.

Jessie Laute, Co-Director

I am a Breathwork Expert and Wellbeing Consultant, dedicated to helping people connect with their true selves and reach their full potential. With a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, experience supporting the NHS as a Practitioner with Duty to Care, and leadership roles such as Chair of the Transformational Breath Foundation UK, I’ve seen the profound impact breathwork can have on people’s lives. I'm proud to be part of School Breathe's core team for Breathwork for Classrooms.

My own journey with breathwork began after the traumatic loss of my father in a fire when I was 16. For years, this event shaped my life in ways I didn’t fully understand. Discovering breathwork allowed me to uncover and heal the patterns formed by that trauma. This life-changing experience fuels my passion for sharing these tools with others.

I am especially committed to working with children. I know how transformative it would have been for me to have these tools as a child, and I see the unique pressures today’s children face. Breathwork helps them build emotional resilience, manage stress, and find calm in their lives.

By sharing this practice with individuals and schools, my mission is to create a grounded, mindful, and empowered generation, equipped to thrive in life’s challenges.

David Reyna, Hawaii

Aloha! I'm David Reyna and I'm a kinesiologist, personal trainer, and School Breathe Breath Coach dedicated to empowering individuals through movement and mindful breathing.

As an ambassador of the School of Breathe in Hawaii, my journey began in 2017 with the Wim Hof Method, sparking my passion for breathwork practices. My experience in competitive MMA and triathlons introduced me to The Art of Breath by Brian McKenzie and Rob Wilson, where I earned certification in breath techniques for sports performance.

My experience coaching mixed martial arts for teenagers further fuelled my motivation to teach young children breathwork, leading him to discover School Breathe, a programme that teaches breathwork to teachers and students to enhance focus, emotional regulation, and overall wellbeing.

David’s mission is rooted in the spirit of Aloha: to inspire connection, mindfulness, and harmony through the transformative power of breath.

Ruth Ashworth, Birmingham

Hello, I’m Ruth, a School Breathe Breath Coach and Primary School Teacher in the West Midlands. I am passionate about teaching children the transformative power of nasal breathing, a true superpower that can change their lives. In addition to my teaching role, I’m a certified children’s yoga and mindfulness instructor, but I firmly believe the breath takes centre stage.

My mission is to show children that education goes beyond grades—it’s about connecting with their true selves and embracing kindness, self-love, and gratitude for their unique and wonderful identities.

As children learn to harness their breath, they develop emotional awareness and resilience, a life-changing gift. Through my private practice, I offer online 1-1 breathing sessions for children aged 6–11, to help your child discover their breathing superpower!

Kerry Snell, Ipswich

Hi, I’m Kerry Snell, a Primary School Teacher and Learning Support at Cliff Lane Primary School, recently certified as a School Breathe Breath Coach. My six-week journey delivering School Breathe techniques to children aged 4 to 10 has been incredibly rewarding. Initially focusing on small groups identified by teachers, we’ve now rolled the techniques out school-wide, tailoring sessions for different age groups to ensure full engagement.

The impact has been transformative—not only for the children but also for me. As my confidence in teaching the techniques has grown, so has my own mental wellbeing, as I’ve integrated the exercises into my daily life. The children have shown calmer behavior, improved emotional regulation, and positive changes in the classroom and beyond.

One standout moment was with a Year 1 boy struggling to manage his emotions. After practising straw and box breathing, he relaxed on a beanbag, saying, “Miss, I feel so much better now.” Seeing him transform into a calmer, more focused learner was heartwarming and affirmed the life-changing potential of breathwork. I’m excited to continue bringing these techniques to children, helping them thrive emotionally and academically.

Jenna Dadley, Perth, Australia

Hi, I'm Jenna and a few years ago, at St Stephen's School in Perth, Australia, I noticed growing levels of anxiety among my students. At the same time, I was experiencing the transformative benefits of breathwork in my own life. Recognising its potential to help children manage emotions and build self-regulation skills, I trained with School Breathe. This journey reshaped my approach to teaching and wellbeing, opening my eyes to the remarkable capacity children have to learn and apply breathwork techniques.

Witnessing students use these practices to manage stress, improve focus, and enhance their overall wellbeing has been profoundly rewarding. Even the youngest children have embraced these skills, using them to navigate challenges and develop confidence in their daily lives.

Today, I’m passionate about sharing breathwork with as many children as possible, believing it to be an essential life skill that equips them to face future challenges with calm and resilience.

"The training I received with School Breathe has been clear, informative, and inspiring. It has given me the skills and confidence to teach breathwork effectively. I’m proud to help children build tools they can carry with them into adulthood, supporting their emotional and academic growth."
